Delores died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, surround by family at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
She was born July 21, 1931, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Arthur H. and Clarine (Johnson) Hintz.
She graduated from Bricelyn High School, and later in life went back to school to receive her cosmetology license.
She married Loren K. Steele of Alden on Oct. 2, 1949, at Bricelyn Lutheran Church. Together they farmed and raised their four children in rural Alden. In addition to working side by side with her husband and making a home for her family, Delores worked 40 years as a beautician in the Albert Lea area, finally retiring at age 80.
She found great enjoyment in talking to and meeting new people. She always seemed to be able to find a mutual friend or family member with whomever she met.
Delores also was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she was active in WELCA and Circle.
As a homemaker she truly enjoyed sewing, gardening, entertaining, canning and everything farm life had to offer, including the area Homemakers Club.
Playing cards, dancing, short camping trips and travels to California, Florida, Tennessee and a Caribbean cruise provided many great family memories.
Delores is survived by her children Steven Steele of Alden, Danny (Sue) Steele of Alden, Lori (Ron) Fenney of Eagan and Cindy Carlson of Altoona, Iowa; grandchildren Scott (Gloria) Steele, Jeff (Megan) Steele, Cory (Amy) Steele, Ryan (Kari) Steele, Chad (Stephanie) Steele, Amanda (Mike) Michalek, Kari (Rick) Peterson, Krystal Schmidt and fiance, Paul Sober, and Derek Carlson; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
