District 5 Freeborn County Commissioner Mike Lee is expected to undergo surgery Monday to remove a kidney stone.
Lee said the 7-millimeter kidney stone was found Sept. 2 via CT scan at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
Two days later, he said he was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital-St. Marys campus after experiencing significant pain. He missed the Sept. 4 commissioners’ meeting.
“I was in pretty rough shape then,” he said, adding he has experienced a decrease in pain since then.
Lee, who also missed Tuesday’s Freeborn County Board of Commissioners study session for a second appointment at St. Marys, has been cleared for surgery.
He hopes to attend next Tuesday’s meeting.
Lee, who has a history of strokes, is expected to be temporarily placed on blood-thinners.
