1. National Alpaca Farm Days

Get some animal time in this weekend at Oak Knoll Farms in Albert Lea with National Alpaca Farm Days. The farm at 1650 Hammer Road will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The family-friendly activities range from meeting the alpacas up close, a question and answer session and refreshments. The farm store will be open as well, which has alpaca products such as scarves, blankets, hats and more for sale.

 

2. Oktoberfest

Worth Brewing Co. in Northwood will take part in its own Oktoberfest celebration this weekend. Promoted as “a taste of Germany in your own backyard,” the brewery will have a selection of beer and food for sale, as well as free games and fun all day Saturday. The brewing company, at 835 Central Ave. in Northwood, will tap its Oktoberfest Lagerbier from noon to 11 p.m., before closing down Central Avenue to welcome all ages to its 11th Oktoberfest bash. The OTH Brass Band will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Northwood Chamber stage. In case of inclement weather, the fun will move to the Bee Hive Ballroom above the brewery’s tap room.

 

3. Albert Lea Homecoming

This weekend is Albert Lea’s Homecoming, and a great chance to show off your Tigers pride. While Albert Lea Area Schools have had student activities throughout the week, there will be a free community Homecoming Carnival from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Hammer Complex. The rain location for the carnival will be the Albert Lea High School gym. The Tigers varsity football team will host the Cardinals of Fairmont at 7 p.m. Friday at Jim Gustafson Field. Let’s go Tigers!

 

4. Albert Lea Art Center open house

The Albert Lea Art Center will host an open house from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in its new location at 101 S. Broadway Ave. The opening is a chance for the center to show off its new facility, which includes exhibit space and a conference room where the group also hopes to host classes for the public. Inside the conference room is also the permanent exhibit space. Additionally, the open house will include an all-member show with at least 60 pieces, music by Easy Heart, food prepared by chef John Lowery and Conger Inn Victory Catering, liquor and wine provided by 112 on Broadway and a silent auction. Tickets are $20 per person and are available at Addie’s Floral & Gifts and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, or at the door the day of.

 

5. Golf tournament

There will be a one-person best shot golf tournament from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Wedgewood Cove Golf Course in Albert Lea. Each player will hit two shots, and then choose the better of the two to play from. This will be done for every shot, including putts. Flights will be determined after play is completed. Season pass entry in the tournament is $35, while non-season pass entry is $60. All fees include skins game, cart and range balls.
