An Albert Lea man was injured Monday after experiencing a coughing spell and crashing into a retaining wall near Shady Oaks.
Darryl Bakke, 65, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with at least one injury deemed not life-threatening.
Bakke was driving a 2005 Chevy Impala in a nearby parking lot when he had the medical situation, causing him to drive through some landscaping and strike a retaining wall on the north side of the building at about 6:45 p.m. Monday, according to Albert Lea police.
The retaining wall was not damaged.
Alcohol was not a factor, and Bakke, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was wearing his seat belt, the report states.
