What comes to mind when you hear the famous Neil Armstrong quote, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind?”
The words came from American astronaut Neil Armstrong, who was the first person to walk on the moon on July 21, 1969.
The event was a landmark date — not only in American history but the history of the human race.
Next year will be the 50th anniversary of the historical moment, and in honor of this anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon, the Tribune has named the theme for our annual Progress edition, “Small Steps, Giant Leaps.”
While the edition will highlight this historic event from the view of Albert Leans who remember that day, we also hope to shine a spotlight on all the people, organizations and businesses who daily are making improvements in our community. Though some of the improvements are small and others are large, collectively these improvements add up to be great things. Our community has made giant leaps from where it was even 10 years ago.
If you have ideas of people who are taking part in this effort to do things to better the area, please let us know.
