A Freeborn County winter coat and outerwear drive is underway, according to a press release.
The drive looks to collect new or gently-used winter coats, hats, waterproof gloves and snowpants now through Nov. 26. It is organized by Freeborn County’s Multidisciplinary Child Protections Team in collaboration with United Way of Freeborn County and area businesses.
Donation box locations for items are at Hy-Vee, Shopko, Walmart, Northbridge Mall, the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce office in Skyline Plaza, Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, Ventura Foods, United Way inside the Vitality Center, and the Freeborn County Government Center and DHS. The boxes have been donated by Minnesota Corrugated Box and Interstate Packaging.
Monetary donations can be sent or dropped off to United Way of Freeborn County, 314 S. Broadway Ave. in Albert Lea. Checks should be made out to United Way of Freeborn County with “coat drive” in the memo line. Donations can also be made online at givemn.org/organization/United-Way-Of-Freeborn-County. Monetary donations will be used to purchase items in sizes that weren’t donated or are in high demand, the release said.
