Letter: Albert Lea wants to see community change

With our whole hearts, we say thank you to the citizens of Albert Lea for sharing with us such a tremendous, life-changing experience. This campaign season was filled with adventures every day for six months, and we gave it our very best.
We were committed to running a campaign based on facts, truth, integrity and excellence. We remained true to our original philosophies: 1. We were not running against anyone; we were running for the people of Albert Lea; and, 2. Win or lose, we would not be outworked.
Our purpose was human connection, and that was proven by us winning five out of the six wards of the city. The success of our personal approach was displayed by the fact that the majority of Albert Lea embraced, believed in and trusted the vision, plans and strategies we offered in our campaign. We even gained ground from the primary, where we had won four out of the six wards. It is apparent, Albert Lea wants to see our community change.
A heartfelt thank you to our supporters, who remained positive and classy all the way through the campaign. They focused on what they appreciated about our strengths and leadership, and did not attack anyone else.
We remained positive, truthful and operated with integrity all the way through the season. We ran a good, clean campaign, and we gave it our all. So with that, we are pleased with our campaign and have no regrets. We offer our sincere congratulations to Mayor Rasmussen. We accept the outcome with our heads held high, knowing we gave our best to the city we love.
We love you, Albert Lea, and we remain committed to serving you. Thank you for a wonderful, fulfilling experience. We believe in you, and we believe that our best days are still ahead of us. In the end, love wins!
