The Mid-Southeast (West) sub-district awards were announced Thursday, with numerous players from United South Central receiving recognition.

The Rebels led the district with eight players named to the All-Sub District team, with another four being named honorable mentions.

Seniors Jacob Stevermer, George Bias, Gavin Sonnek and Colby Klocek, and juniors Zach Niebuhr, Isaac Meyer, Keagan Meyer and Carson Wegner were the eight Rebels announced as part of the first team.

Senior Derek Christensen and juniors AJ Kloos, Mark Bushlack and Brevan Linder were named to the honorable mention team.

Three Rebels were also named individual award winners, with Stevermer winning Lineman of the Year, Niebuhr winning Underclassman of the Year and head coach Brandon Neseth winning Coach of the Year.

United South Central finished the year with a record of 10-1, its only loss coming in the quarterfinal round of the Class A playoffs to Blooming Prairie.

The Rebels lose eight seniors from the team, but will have plenty of firepower returning on both sides of the ball as they try and repeat as section champions in 2019.
