Donald died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Community. He was 76.

Donald Duane Johansen, the son of Henry and June Johansen, was born Oct. 11, 1942. He grew up in Austin. After his schooling, Red started working for Lou-Rich in the maintenance department. He would go on to work at Quality Pork in Austin, where he worked until his retirement.

Red married Marlene (Johnson) in 1987 in Albert Lea, and the couple was blessed with 31 years together.

He is preceded in death by both parents, Henry and June Johansen; a brother, David (Carol) Johansen; and brothers and sisters-in-law Stanley (Shirley) Johnson, Dale Johnson, David Johnson, Merrill Johnson and Jerry Hendrickson.

Red is survived by his wife, Marlene Johansen; children Donald Johansen Jr. and Justin Johansen and his special friend, Brandy; brothers and sisters in-law Delores (Orien) Loe, Darlene Hendrickson, Steven (Sandi) Johnson, Gilbert (Mary) Johnson, Julie Telles, Paul (Josephine) Johnson, Gail Johnson and Joy Johnson; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

Red’s family would like to thank the caregivers at St. John’s and Mayo Hospice for their care and compassion.
