Applications are being accepted for the title of Mrs. Freeborn County. The entry deadline is Dec. 14.

According to a press release, Mrs. Freeborn County will have the honor of representing her area at the Mrs. Minnesota International pageant, which has established itself as an organization with integrity and high ethical standards. The event will be on March 22 and March 23 in Minneapolis.

The woman chosen as Mrs. Freeborn County will become an ambassador for her area and will receive the official title and sash. If selected as Mrs. Minnesota International, she will receive a prize package and the chance to represent Minnesota at the 2019 Mrs. International Pageant July 15-16 in Charleston, West Virginia.

The International Pageant system has been developed to promote today’s married women, their accomplishments, and commitment to family and marriage, the release states.  Around the world women are finding the system to be the opportunity to work with their husband and family to become positive role models, the release states.  Being the premier pageant for married women has given Mrs. International a chance to open doors for married women around the world. The competition will give each contestant the opportunity to learn about family life in other communities, along with the chance to share her beliefs and make new friends.

Beginning 30 years ago, Mrs. International was developed to have higher standards than other pageant systems. The focus is to showcase women 21 to 56 years old.  Each contestant competes in interview, evening gown and fitness wear categories. There is no swimsuit competition.   

The contestant will select a platform of her choice that she will spend the year promoting.  Husbands are part of the show — they escort their wives in the evening gown competition.
