Eleanor Wangen, 1940-2018

Memorial services for Eleanor A. Wangen, 78, of Albert Lea will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Eileen Woyen will officiate. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery immediately following the service. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Eleanor died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea.
Eleanor Alma (Eggers) Wangen was born March 23, 1940, in Ellendale, the daughter of Clarence Gustaf Paul Eggers and Alice Hilda (Dinse) Eggers. She grew up in Ellendale and Owatonna and graduated from Ellendale High School.
On Aug. 31, 1973, Eleanor was united in marriage to Ralph Conrad Wangen in Albert Lea.
Eleanor worked for Schweigert and Morning Star Home Health. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Eleanor enjoyed bingo, trivia, bowling, watching karaoke, church choir and card games. She loved chatting and getting to know people and spreading cheerfulness to those around her.
Eleanor is survived by her children Kelly Gleason of Albert Lea, Kent Worrell of Albert Lea, Kris (Molly Kaliher) Worrell of Hudson, Wisconsin, and Randy (Rose) Wangen of New Hope; grandchildren John Gleason, Ciji Gleason, Sean Gleason, Sophia Wangen and Sam Wangen; and siblings Clarence (LaVonne) Eggers, Margie DeBower, Beverly (Marvin) Meixner, Dee Sundem and Phyllis (Bill) Stransky.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents Clarence and Alice; sister, Patty Eggers; and son-in-law, Lester Gleason.
Memorials are preferred to the American Legion or Trinity Lutheran Church.
