Galen Bolinger, 1948-2019

Family and friends will gather for Galen B. Bolinger, 70, of Albert Lea from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home with a service at 6 p.m. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Galen died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.
Galen B. Bolinger was born March 16, 1948, in Albert Lea, the son of John and Bonnie (Kramer) Bolinger. He grew up and attended school in Albert Lea.
On June 20, 1980, he was united in marriage to Sandra Cornick. Galen worked at Wilson & Co. for 17 years and then as a carpenter for Cornick Construction. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Galen was also a member of the Eagle’s Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and horses. Galen especially loved bonfires and hayrides with his kids and grandkids. He also liked flirting with his nurses who gave him such good care.
Galen is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sandy; children Tavis (Jennifer Van Beek) Bolinger, Jason (Stephanie) Bolinger, Heidi (Scott) Enger and Matt (Angi) Nechanicky; 13 grandchildren, Taylor, Cami (Garrett), Landon (Torey), Spencer, Levi, Lexi, Josie, Emma, Ike, Savannah, Jorja, Olivia and Ila; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Liam and Mia; brothers Jerry (Bonnie) Bolinger, Bill Bolinger and Dutch (Juanita) Bolinger; sisters-in-law Wanda Thomas, Diane (Earl) Cleven, Renae Peterson and Julie Golder; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Galen was preceded in death by his parents John and Bonnie; sister, LaVella Hoyt; brothers Eugene Bolinger and Jack Bolinger; sister-in-law, Zelma Bolinger; brother-in-law, David Cornick; and in-laws Carroll and Dorothy Cornick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic hospice in Albert Lea.
