Only a few days after a winter snowstorm dumped 10 1/2 inches of snow on Albert Lea, more winter weather was expected to begin Monday night and continue Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather agency states a light glazing of ice was possible to start out the storm before changing to all snow Tuesday morning.
Albert Lea was under a winter weather advisory from 9 p.m. Monday to midnight Tuesday.
Three to 5 inches of snow is likely across the advisory area, with winds increasing Tuesday evening to around 20 to 25 mph. The increased winds could cause blowing and drifting snow.
The Weather Service states people should plan on slippery road conditions that could impact the morning and evening commute.
On Thursday, high winds of 30 to 40 mph will create blowing and drifting snow during the early morning hours through the evening, potentially leading to blizzard conditions.
Temperatures are expected to be 10 to 20 degrees below zero with wind chills of 25 to 40 degrees below zero, according to the Weather Service.
The bitter cold temperatures are expected to continue through Saturday morning. People outdoors will be at risk for frostbite and hypothermia.
