Snowmobilers injured after falling into Minnesota Lake

Two Minnesota Lake residents were rescued Saturday after falling into Minnesota Lake while snowmobiling.

Christopher John Koch, 31, and Kaleb Jay Hyronimus, 27, were rescued by first responders.

Koch was airlifted by North Air Care to Hennepin County Medical Center, and Hyronimus was taken by Wells Ambulance to Mankato Medical Center, according to the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office. Their condition was unknown as of Tuesday morning.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Lake Police Department received a report of snowmobilers having gone through the ice at approximately 2:22 p.m. Saturday. The incident was reported to a Minnesota Lake Street Department worker by Lonny Nicholas Lee Jaeger, 39, of Minnesota Lake, who had been riding with Koch and Hyronimus.

During the rescue, two Minnesota Lake Fire Department members reportedly went through the ice. They were treated and released by Wells Ambulance crews.

Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, Wells Police Department, Minnesota Lake Police Department, Minnesota Lake Ambulance, Gold Cross Ambulance and Mayo One assisted on scene.

Freeborn Fire Department, Good Thunder Fire Department and Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office assisted en route.
