1. ‘Seussical the Musical’

The Alden-Conger drama department brings a colorful collage of Dr. Seuss’ beloved characters and stories to life, all hodgepodged together into “Seussical the Musical.” Full of the same creativity and boundary-pushing imagination as his books, the Seuss-inspired musical follows Horton the elephant; Jojo, the son of the mayor of Whoville; and Gertrude McFuzz, Horton’s bird neighbor, as they adventure through scenes and themes pulled from stories like “The Lorax,” “The Grinch” and “The Circus McGurkus,” among others. Each has a different objective: Horton, to care for the egg he gets left with; Gertrude, to help Horton (and maybe get noticed by the elephant she has a crush on); and Jojo, to find the freedom to imagine. See Alden-Conger perform “Seussical”  at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday or at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Alden-Conger gymnasium.

2. Easy Heart at The Interchange

Aaron and Ariel Winter, the couple who together make up Easy Heart, return to The Interchange Wine & Coffee Bistro for another evening of vocal harmonies and intimate covers of favorites from the likes of The Flaming Lips, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bon Iver, David Bowie, Mason Jennings and more. The duo will perform a two-hour set from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at The Interchange.

 

3. Omelette breakfast

It is not Easter yet, but the eggs have arrived for a Morin Lake Days omelette fundraiser. Meals include a made-to-order omelette, a hash brown patty, muffins, orange juice, milk and coffee. Omelette fillings include ham, cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers and black olives. Breakfast (or lunch) is served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 31.

 

4. Welcome to the gun show

The Wells Rifle and Pistol Club returns with its 59th annual gun show. Included in the show will be modern and antique guns, knives, coins and collectibles. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. The gun show is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at United South Central High School.

 

5. Small Town Songs

Singer-songwriter Scott Jasmin brings his Americana tribute to small-town living to Albert Lea. An Austin-based musician, Jasmin said his work is intended to speak to the universal small-town experiences and memories. He said he hopes the show reminds people of their own time growing up or living in a small community. “Small Town Songs” is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.
