Albert Lea High School Principal Mark Grossklaus will remain in Albert Lea after he and the Cannon Falls Area Schools school board were unable to reach an agreement on a superintendent contract.
Grossklaus was selected by the school board March 13 to enter into negotiations with the district for the position. He notified the Tribune of the outcome Tuesday morning.
“We wish him well and are sorry we couldn’t connect on a contract,” said Cannon Falls School Board Chairman Bob Brintnall in an email.
Grossklaus has worked as Albert Lea High School principal since 2014 after serving as academic director at St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Arts. He was one of 25 who applied for the position with the Cannon Falls district.
“We are very fortunate to have Mark Grossklaus stay as our high school principal,” Albert Lea Area Schools Superintendent Mike Funk said. “He has positively impacted our high school during his tenure in Albert Lea. I look forward to continuing to work with him.”
Funk said Grossklaus will continue with the same salary.
