MINNEAPOLIS — Prosecutors have charged a 39-year-old woman with fatally stabbing another woman after an argument in downtown Minneapolis.

Shermeika Franklin of Minneapolis was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in the killing of 42-year-old Mesheka Willis. Willis was stabbed in the chest Saturday night at a bus depot.

Police watched surveillance video and saw Franklin arguing with Willis, the two women circling each other and Willis staggering and falling to the ground.

Franklin was arrested at a nearby apartment. She told police that Willis had been bothering her and punched her in the chin.

Franklin remains jailed ahead of a court appearance Thursday. Court records do not list an attorney who could comment on her behalf.
