5 things to do this weekend

1. Albert Lea Floats and Plays
While Albert Lea Floats continues to focus on putting boats in the water and people in those boats, a new aspect of the day is intended to increase offerings for the whole family.
For the Albert Lea Lakes Foundation, this is the fifth year of Albert Lea Floats — this year dubbed Albert Lea Floats and Plays — a free boating event funded by grant money from Michelob Golden Draft Light. This year’s Albert Lea Floats and Plays will include more land activities because of a partnership with Parks and Recreation.
Albert Lea Floats and Plays is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Frank Hall Park and Golden Point Launch and is free to the public.
2. ‘A Tribute to the Man in Black’
The next best thing aside from actually having the late Johnny Cash perform in Albert Lea will come to town this weekend. “A Tribute to the Man in Black” will pay homage to the music icon at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center in downtown Albert Lea. Tickets are $15 each.
3. Market on the Mall
The antique and vendor show Market on the Mall will take place this weekend. Such items as antiques, clothing, crafts, home-baked goods and more will be for sale from home-based businesses and other entrepreneurs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Northbridge Mall in Albert Lea.
4. Kickoff to summer
Three Oak Vineyard and Winery will host a kickoff to summer as a fundraiser for Trinity Lutheran Church mission trips this weekend. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and entertainment will be provided by Flashback Band from 1 to 3 p.m. at the winery, 73505 225th St. in Albert Lea. A $10 meal will be available that includes choice of meat and two side dishes, and a $5 meal will be available for children 10 years old and younger. For more info call 507-373-2466 or stop at 501 S. Washington Ave. in Albert Lea.
5. Golf tournament
There will be a one-person best shot golf tournament starting between 9 and 10 a.m. Saturday at Wedgewood Cove Golf Course, 220 W. Ninth St. in Albert Lea. The entry fee is $35 for season pass holders or $60 for non-season pass holders. All fees include skins games, cart and range balls. Any questions can be directed to the pro shop at 507-373-2007, extension 1.
