Man arrested for DWI after car strikes child on bike

Police arrested Zachary Allen Thorpe, 20, for suspected third-degree driving while intoxicated at 7:56 p.m. Saturday after the vehicle he was driving reportedly struck an 11-year-old child on a bicycle on East Main Street near Columbus Avenue.

The child received minor scrapes and cuts from being hit but was not transported to the hospital, according to police.

Police stated the child was reportedly crossing south on Main Street west of Columbus Avenue mid-block. A driver in the right lane stopped for the child, but Thorpe, who was reportedly in the left lane struck the child.

The investigation is ongoing.

 

Damage reported to sign

Damage was reported to the sign at Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services at 9:17 a.m. Friday at 146 W. College St.

 

Thefts, break-ins reported

A gas can and other items were reported stolen from a boat at 11:36 a.m. on Fountain Lake.

A break-in was reported at 2:31 p.m. Friday at 224 1/2 E. College St. Items were reported missing.

An attempted burglary was reported at 3:38 a.m. Saturday at 709 Harding Ave.

A theft was reported at 7:24 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave.

A tip jar was reported stolen from a food vendor in the North Broadway parking lot at 10:46 p.m. Saturday.

A men’s Mongoose bike that is white in the front and red in the back was reported stolen at 7:57 p.m. Sunday at 333 W. College St.

 

1 arrested for domestic assault

Police arrested Kendra Monique Williams, 21, for domestic assault at 11:41 p.m. Friday at 2414 Larson Ave.

 

Man arrested for violation

Police arrested Todd William Senholtz Jr., 19, for a domestic abuse no contact order violation at 1:32 a.m. Saturday after a traffic stop near the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Marshall Street.

 

1 cited for open bottle violation

Police cited Jesus Chavez for open bottle violation at 10:34 p.m. Saturday at 1318 E. Main St.

 

2 cited for underage drinking

Police cited Steven Craig Larson-Gomez, 18, and Grady Gage Studier, 19, for underage consumption and tampering with a motor vehicle at 2:01 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Birch Hill Drive and South Fourth Avenue.
