Eight years ago I was called and asked if I would help with an event, the Eddie Cochran Weekend and car show. The man who called was Jerry Monson. I didn’t know Jerry at the time, but over these eight years, I’ve been in awe of a man with boundless energy and commitment. You will find few people with the commitment and ability to pull off an event that Albert Lea experienced this past weekend.

Every community has its underappreciated volunteers, but then there are those very few who take their efforts to the level that Jerry has. Albert Lea owes Jerry Monson a very big thank you.

A personal note to Jerry; give me a break — don’t call me, I’ll call you!
