2 injured in rear-end collision
Two people were injured Wednesday evening after their vehicle was reportedly rear-ended east of Conger.
John Ohm, 42, of rural Albert Lea and his son Ethan Ohm, 19, were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System by ambulance, according to reports. John Ohm complained of back injuries, and Ethan Ohm had suspected head injuries.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office stated John Ohm was driving a Ford Explorer westbound on 180th Street at 8:06 p.m. Wednesday and passed a Buick driven by Mason White, 18, of rural Albert Lea, that was on the side of the road.
Shortly later, the Buick pulled back out into the westbound lane of traffic behind the Explorer. John Ohm started slowing down to turn north onto 680th Avenue when the Buick reportedly struck him from behind.
White reportedly told authorities that prior to the crash he had pulled over because his vehicle was “not acting right.”
He also reportedly stated he thought his vehicle was doing fine when he pulled back out into the lane and that he had attempted to slow down but didn’t know whether he hit the gas or the brake pedal.
He was cited for failing to drive with due care.
