Here are highlights in history for May 27, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — A new memorial honoring veterans at the First Lutheran Cemetery south of Ellendale would be dedicated on Memorial Day.
1979 — Wilson Food Corp. was considering a plan to close beef operations at the Albert Lea plant and expand the local pork processing operations.
1949 — The Albert Lea City Council was considering plans to have all local streets paved with seven inch layers of concrete.
