Janet (Nordholm) Felt of Albert Lea passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019. She was 97.
Janet was born on July 25, 1921, to David and Marie Nordholm of Boxholm, Iowa. After graduating high school, she completed business college in Fort Dodge, Iowa. From there she went on to work for the United States Department of Agriculture all over the United States. She often rode the train home from Chicago and told stories of being the only female on a train filled with World War II soldiers.
She returned to Des Moines and married Bill Felt on Oct. 26, 1950. After the first few years of Bill being stationed at a variety of Air Force bases, they settled in Waukee to farm. Jan and Bill loved to travel and camp. She had traveled to all 50 states and several countries overseas. But, her favorite place to travel was South Pike Bay in northern Minnesota.
She moved from Waukee to Albert Lea in November 2000. While living in Albert Lea she enjoyed walks down to the lake, the farmers market, bingo and soup suppers at the senior centers. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and South Broadway Extension Club.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, who died in March 1995.
She is survived by four children, Kathi (John) Felt of Mankato, Patricia (Larry) Felt-Gunderson of Minneapolis, Karen (Jay) Felt-Hutchison of Johnston, Iowa, and Ron (Stacy) Felt of Balaton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Jan will be interred during a private service in Waukee Cemetery.
