A local landscaping project by Plaza Landscaping and Garden Center of Albert Lea will be showcased on the cover and throughout the newest VERSA-LOK Midwest hardscaping product brochure as its Project of the Year, according to a press release.
Bill and Kay Hay own the home on Fountain Lake that will be featured. The home includes several new Minnesota-made products from Willow Creek Concrete Products, manufactured in Faribault.
Plaza Landscaping is a full-service landscape supplier and contractor, with services ranging from lawn maintenance and professional landscape design to offering hardscape expertise in retaining walls and paving stones. In addition to hardscape products, Plaza’s garden center also offers trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials to customers, including contractors and the public.
“In this lakeshore home project, we used several new products including a new color of Willow Creek’s slatestone grande, a large paving slab that complements the Slatestone paver family,” said Dick Rocklin, owner of Plaza Landscaping with his son-in-law, Shawn Prihoda.
“We also used VERSA-LOK retaining walls in the project and finishing components from VERSA-LOK and Willow Creek.”
The project features VERSA-LOK standard retaining, seat and tiered walls and columns in the lakeshore blend color. Patios, walkways and the driveway use Willow Creek slatestone and slatestone grande in a new color, shor, developed for its select series pavers. Borders around the paver fields are Willow Creek tekstone in brown and dekrastone in mocha. Willow Creek bullnose and capstone units as well as VERSA-LOK stair treads finish off the hardscape features.
“This project came together beautifully, with the help of our VERSA-LOK Midwest sales rep. Jared Kanz and the involvement of the homeowners Bill and Kay Hay on the design and selection of colors,” Rocklin said. “Many of our projects are near lakes, and we are experts in using retaining walls for shoreline protection and erosion control.”
Established in 2005, Plaza Landscaping has an 8,000-square-foot retail landscaping supply store with full-service professional design and installation services. VERSA-LOK retaining walls are manufactured at Willow Creek Concrete Products in Faribault and Kimball, as well as other authorized manufacturers around the United States.
“I would like to thank all those involved in this project, including Jared, Shawn and his crew, the Hays family and our staff involved in this project,” Rocklin said. “It is an honor for Plaza Landscaping to be awarded the cover of the new catalog.”
Plaza Landscaping and Garden Center is located 1/2 a mile west of Hy-Vee on Plaza Street.
