According to a press release, Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Concentration Camps, will bring thousands of people to locations worldwide as well as to concentration camps across the country, into the streets and into their own front yards to protest the inhumane conditions faced by migrants.
In Albert Lea, the group will gather at the Freeborn County Adult Detention Center, an ICE contract facility, at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
A candlelit moment of silence will follow speakers from the community at 9 p.m. The event will adjourn at 9:15 p.m.
Lights for Liberty is a loose coalition of grassroots activists, with support from long-standing immigrants rights organizations and other organizers.
