St. John’s Auxiliary

St. John’s Auxiliary met at 2 p.m. May 16 in St. John’s Chapel. Vice-president Caroline Sorenson welcomed everyone. Devotions were given by the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister. Becky Nordland on piano led us in singing “For the Beauty of the Earth” and “Onward Christian Soldiers.”
Auxiliary secretary Bonnie Schneider read the minutes of the April meeting. Treasurer Lorraine Schaper gave the treasurer’s report. Reports were approved.
A vote was held to accept the changes to the St. John’s Auxiliary Constitution. A motion was made by Marlys Johnson and seconded by Ruth Haskins. The motion was approved. There will be no auxiliary meeting in June, July or August.
The volunteer coordinator reported that 765 volunteer hours were reported for April. Day care had 37 hours, three You & Me Club and two Sing Alongs and a talent show.
Sue Barnes reported on activities for the residents: Pioneer Day, Pat Mulso from the historical museum, barbeque, James Whipplinger, gardening and picnics will be starting.
Sorenson read the names of residents celebrating May birthdays: Marjorie Schreiber, Milton Roberts, Marjorie Mudra, Violet Wangen, Vema Gilbertson, Anna Corrisalez, Mildred Mershon, Ardys Modderman, Milton Olson, Audrey Lame, Vemetta Scott and Ruth Silrum.
The churches that were thanked for serving Sunday coffee were Emmons, East Freeborn and Mansfield Lutheran.
The program was provided by Chuck Johnson, music director at Vineyard Church. He played many Elvis Presley songs.
Refreshments were provided by St. John’s Dietary Department.
The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
