Minnesota AgriGrowth Council Executive Director Tamara Nelsen joined the Ag Policy Discussion with National Ag Leaders panel Tuesday at the 2019 Farmfest, according to a press release.
“We work in a great industry with great people. There is no one better to work with than farmers and people in agriculture,” Nelsen said, discussing her return to Minnesota and her new leadership role at AgriGrowth.
The discussion panel was moderated by Mark Dorenkamp, MN Anchor, Brownfield Ag News, and the featured speakers were Nelsen; Scott VanderWal, vice president, American Farm Bureau; Rob Larew, senior vice president, National Farmers Union; Harold Wolle, board member, National Corn Growers Association; and Jerry Schreurs, board member, American Soybean Association.
“We do need certainty. We need to get our markets back, because if we get the markets back, we will get the higher prices and people’s optimism will return,” Nelsen said, while discussing the U.S. trade negotiations. “We put together a coalition letter on the USMCA and sent it to our legislators to make sure they all know where our family of companies stand on this issue. We have been consistent in our messaging on trade and will continue to do so alongside farmers, trade associations, ag companies and producers.”
