The Hayward Fire Department responded to a call of a fire in the basement of a residence on 180th Street south of Hayward on Friday morning. No one was injured.

The call of the fire came just before 9:30 a.m. at 80008 180th St. at the home of James Frydenlund.

Fire officials stated the cause was believed to have been electrical, but they had no other details.

Frydenlund said he had a new water heater and softener installed Thursday but did not know if they were the cause of the fire.

A woman cleaning his home actually discovered the fire, and both got out safely.

Firefighters put out the blaze quickly and worked to cool down hot spots.

Officials stated the floor joists were burned.
