The envelopes have been opened and the Education Foundation Board has selected the four candidates to join the Pathways to Success Society, according to a press release. The purpose is to inspire current Albert Lea High School students to realize and acknowledge their success begins with their education, honoring certain alumni, paying tribute to the education system and recognizing the importance of people to nurture a dynamic community.

There are four categories:

• Candidate who has left the community and succeeds in business and economics

• Candidate who succeeds in public or humanitarian service

• Candidate who has remained in the Albert Lea community and succeeds in either or both of the above

• A posthumous candidate who succeeded in either of the first two categories

The four people selected this year are Shelly Radue-Ibach, Col. Thomas Ehrhard, Dan Dorman and Sarah Gutknecht, deceased. The four new members will be recognized and their stories will be told at the Pathways to Success Banquet on Sept. 12 at Wedgewood Cove. Four former teachers selected as Distinguished Educators will also be recognized.

Nominations for both awards are made by the general public and forms can be found on the Albert Lea Education Foundation website.

The Pathways to Success Society was founded 11 years ago and has recognized 48 former graduates of Albert Lea High School. The living members or their representatives tell their story to the senior class on the day after the banquet.

According to the release, it is the goal of the Education Foundation to provide moral and financial support to District 241 and its employees. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and welcomes financial support from the community. Everyone is invited and tickets can be purchased at the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau, or at 507-373-2316 or abby@leachlawalbertlea.com. The cost of the banquet is $40.

“Success is measured in many different ways, but serving other people makes us all successful,” the release stated.
