1. Celebration of summer
Three Oak Winery is throwing one last summer celebration this weekend.
The winery will host live music three days this weekend. Easy Heart and Friends will perform from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Tim Stoneking will perform from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Jesse and the Medicine Men will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. There will be a $5 cover for the Jesse and the Medicine Men event.
The winery will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The Peppered Cow food truck will be at the winery starting around 5 p.m. each night. Music will be performed in the wine porch area, as the usual event area is under construction. Those attending are advised to bring chairs with them.
2. Shortstop Tournament
The annual Shortstop Tournament rounds out summer golf play this weekend. The three-day event at Green Lea Golf Course is not for the faint of heart, as the tournament starts with 18 qualifying holes Saturday, before players are split into flights for nine-hole match play Sunday and Monday. Contact Green Lea Golf Course for more information at 507-373-1061.
3. Bayside Ski Team
The Bayside Ski Team will perform its last waterski show of the season on Labor Day. The team will perform at 1 p.m. Monday along Edgewater Bay. The theme for this season’s shows has been centered around Charlie Brown. The shows are free to attend, but donations are accepted.
4. Fall gnome make-and-take
If you’re ready for fall, “spend a relaxing evening hanging with your gnomies” this weekend with Junktion Market’s fall gnome make-and-take class, according to a press release. The class is $25 and will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the shop in downtown Albert Lea. Those planning to attend are asked to stop at Junktion Market to register ahead of time.
5. Mrs. Gerry’s Couples Tournament
Wedgewood Cove Golf Course will host a couples golf tournament with a shotgun start at noon Sunday. The entry fee per couple is $100, or $40 for season pass-holders. There will be a drawing for prizes and a chicken kiev meal after play has finished. Call the pro shop to sign up at 507-373-2007, extension 1.
