Traffic on the Interstate 90 westbound lanes has reopened as the paving project continues to progress toward completion in Freeborn County, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Traffic in both directions on I-90 remains in single lanes, but vehicles are no longer traveling adjacent to each other in the eastbound lanes. Paving work continues in areas northwest of Albert Lea to Petran, which is east of Albert Lea on I-90.

A number of westbound ramps opened:

• Westbound I-90 exits to Interstate 35

• Interstate 35 exits to westbound I-90

• Highway 13 westbound I-90 exit

Closed exits are:

• Freeborn County Road 22

• On-ramp at Freeborn County Road 26

Ulland Brothers Inc., a MnDOT contractor, is paving a 12-mile stretch of the westbound lanes with concrete in a process called a concrete overlay. The $17.2 million concrete paving project includes the replacement of the westbound bridge deck over Freeborn 46. Construction is expected to be complete in early October.
