Funeral services for Eileen M. Thompson, 95, of Ellendale will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Richard Sliper will officiate. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Ellendale. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Eileen died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at New Richland Care Center in New Richland.
Eileen Mabel Thompson was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Ellendale. She was the daughter of Ralph and Mabel (Sawyer) Burshem.
Eileen grew up in Ellendale, graduated from Ellendale High School and was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Ellendale.
On July 28, 1941, Eileen married Arvin Thompson and together they had three children.
She loved to bake — especially bread, buns and lefse. She has been inducted into the National Lefse Hall of Fame. Eileen would always bake or cook for someone in the hospital or for the family of someone who had died.
She adored babies and little children. She loved to sing and dance, and later in life, loved to watch “Wheel of Fortune.”
Eileen is survived by two sons, Andy and Tim; grandchildren Julie and Jeff; great-grandchildren Mason, Andie, Max and Gray; sister, Alice Dugan; and many nieces and nephews.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin; daughter, Julie Ann; sisters Gladys and Helen; brothers Donald, Ralph, Dana, Bill and Allen; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
