Jeanette Godtland, 1924-2019

Memorial services for Jeanette Godtland will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 918 Garfield Ave. in Albert Lea. The Rev. Shane Koepke will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Bayview Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at church Saturday. Jeannette Godtland

Jeanette “Jay” Godtland, 95, of Albert Lea passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, at her home.

Jeanette was born May 30, 1924, to Harvey and Agnes (Jensen) Heegard. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and spent her life raising two daughters in Albert Lea. She proudly served in the United States Navy. She loved to bowl. She also loved to watch golf and the Minnesota Twins. Jay was an avid reader, especially romance novels. When she wasn’t reading or watching TV, she was doing her crossword puzzles. She was known for always speaking her mind!

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hanna (special friend, Patrick Schultz); granddaughter, Courtney Hanna; sister, Lois (Roger) Bailey; brother-in-law, Howard Petersen; sisters-in-law Lois Undahl and Sandy Godtland; brothers-in-law LuVerne Godtland and Ronald (Karen) Godtland; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Jay was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth; daughter, Marcie; brothers and sisters-in-law LuVerne (Mona) Heegard and Darrell “Buck” (Shirley) Heegard; sisters Delores Petersen and Marilyn Amerson; sister-in-law, Georgia (Arnold) Johnson; brothers-in-law Glen (Eleanor) Godtland, Donald (Dorothy) Godtland, Arthur Jr. (Olive) Godtland, Richard Godtland, Raymond Godtland and DeVerne Undahl; and sisters-in-law Ruth (Dale) Whiteis, Arlene Godtland and Jeannie Godtland.
