Memorial services for Irene D. Weber, 94, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Dwight Netzer and Thomas Wickstrom will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday. Irene Doris (Kuyper) Weber was born April 21, 1925, in Hollandale, the daughter of John and Rena (Westra) Kuyper.

She passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2019. She was the last surviving member of a family of 10 children.

A lifetime resident of Freeborn County, she graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1943 and from Naeve School of Nursing in 1946. She worked for many years at Naeve Hospital as a registered nurse and nursing supervisor.

On May 17, 1946, Irene was united in marriage to Donald E. Weber in Kansas City. Don passed away in 2000.

Irene was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder, taught Sunday school for over 25 years and served as president of Presbyterian Women. She was a 4-H leader, a Brownies leader and a room mother. She was also a member of the historical society, the Audubon Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered with the American Red Cross, food shelf, Primetimes and Albert Lea Medical Center Auxiliary.

Irene enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading and bird watching. She loved to remember everyone’s birthdays — especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene also loved to bake and constantly made chocolate chip cookies.

Irene is survived by her children Susan (Thomas) Wickstrom, James Weber, Donald (Shileen) Weber, Matthew (Stacey) Weber, Robert (Nancy) Weber and William (Erika) Weber; grandchildren Michelle Brendalen, Lucas Wickstrom, Thomas (Nicole) Wickstrom, Margie (Sean) Parker, Joshua (Colleen) Weber, Jamie Weber, Allison (Anthony) Hayes, Benjamin Weber, Andrew Weber, Jennifer Weber, Sarah Weber, Shalee (Greg) Rentschler, Shelby (Lane) Johnson, Jacob Weber, Henry Weber and Hannah Weber; 11 great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren, Nicholus White Eagle, Matt White Eagle, Austin Groth, Julie (Tim) Teitsworth and Christopher Groth.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Weber; parents; sisters Dorothy Nelson and Mary Trammell; brothers Gilbert, Henry, Neal, Jacob, Elmer, John, and Donald Kuyper; great-granddaughter, Katalin; step-grandchild, Christopher White Eagle; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Weber.
