Alden-Conger graduate nominated for state award

Alden-Conger graduate Erika Bute has been named a finalist for the 2019 Minnesota Girls’ High School Athlete of the Year.
Bute was a standout athlete in volleyball, basketball and softball for the Knights before graduating in spring 2019. She is currently a freshman on the Augustana University volleyball team, where she has recorded 438 digs and 65 assists in 79 sets for the Vikings.
Bute is up against CC Bowlby, a hockey player from Edina High School and Shaliciah Jones, a track and field athlete from North St. Paul High School.
Awards are also given to boys’ high school athlete of the year, men’s and women’s collegiate athlete of the year, professional athlete of the year and coach of the year.
Winners will be announced at the awards gala Dec. 11 at Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel. Doors for the event open at 5 p.m., followed by a dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at e.givesmart.com/events/6Yh/ for $195 each.
