Approximately 125 runners participated in the inaugural Wander the Water half marathon Sept. 28. Event organizer Abby Leach said the main goal of the distance event, which featured a scenic route around Fountain Lake, was to showcase the city to people outside of Albert Lea. Proceeds from the half marathon went to support Albert Lea Family Y, while proceeds from a relay option, which allowed runners to split the race among members, went to help Albert Lea resident and cancer patient Maribeth Walton.
