2 injured in armed home invasion

Albert Lea police are asking the public for information tied to an alleged home invasion this morning on Eighth Avenue.
According to a press release, police were dispatched to 101 N. Eighth Ave. at 3 a.m. Wednesday for a report that two people who lived there were assaulted by two males who broke into the residence.
When police arrived, the victims reported they had been asleep when they were awoken by two suspects in their bedroom, one of who was armed with a handgun.
The victims stated they were pulled from their bed and physically assaulted. The intruders demanded money and ended up with an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot. Police followed tracks in the snow until it appears the two suspects got in a vehicle and drove away.
One of the suspects is described as being about 5 feet 6 inches tall, approximately 300 pounds with lighter skin and possibly Hispanic. The second suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall. Both were wearing masks to cover their faces.
Police stated there was forced entry into the home, and it is unknown if the victims knew the intruders.
