Scripture says in ALL things give thanks, reference to 1 Thessalonians 5:18, however, that is easier to read than to implement.

I was recently in a conversation and one person said the age-old comment, “God won’t give you more than you can handle” in reference to the topic.

Another sitting around the table, a woman widowed at a young age, commented, “You know that is not in the Bible, right?”

The Bible does say that God won’t allow you to be tempted beyond your limits.

“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

To those who are having a hard time finding something to be thankful for this season, I want to encourage and challenge you; keep on seeking! Claim the big truth in that verse, God is faithful.

Years ago, I read the book “1,000 Gifts” by Ann Voskamp. She challenges her readers to find the little things in life to be thankful for, moment by moment.

I want to remind you that you matter, a lot! Every hair on your head is numbered. That is a stop-in-your-tracks, amazing and yet strange fact. Why does that even matter?

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:7 NIV

There are a handful of verses referencing how important we are regarding details about the numbers of our hair. That to me is an unusual fact. However, if that was communicated, it must be something we must heed, something to grasp. This Thanksgiving, if you can find no joy or happiness to boast about, believe the strong truth that you matter. Then, pick one other little thing to be thankful for.

Nugget for the week: It’s November. I am thankful for little things. I am thankful for big things in my life. I am thankful for you, my readers. I am thankful I can speak gratitude. Let’s find some thankfulness this season.
