The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for portions of south central Minnesota ahead of a snowstorm expected to start late Tuesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday morning.
Snowfall totals of 5 to 8 inches of snow are likely in the warned area, with locally higher amounts possible.
Winds gusting as high as 40 mph could create reduced visibility and hazardous conditions, particularly in the Wednesday morning commute, according to the weather agency.
Snow will end from west to east Wednesday morning, but blowing snow could continue into Wednesday afternoon.
The Weather Service advises people to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
