Snowfall forecast worsens; 9 to 11 inches possible

Forecasted snowfall totals have increased for the winter storm that is excepted to start this evening and continue through Wednesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, Albert Lea could receive 9 to 11 inches of snow during the storm.
The weather agency states snow will rapidly develop across southern Minnesota after 5 p.m. and spread northeastward through midnight.
Snow will be heavy at times with rates of 2 inches per hour possible.
A few thunderstorms are also possible, especially across southern and eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
The snow will end Wednesday morning, but blowing snow could continue into the afternoon.
Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.
The area is under a winter weather warning from 6 p.m. today through noon Wednesday.
Travel could be difficult to impossible, according to the Weather Service, with areas of blowing snow significantly reducing visibility.
