Letter: Clinic still $500K away from goal

I have been a resident of Albert Lea for over 50 years, and I am truly amazed at how the Freeborn County residents react when they have a tragic incident or problem. Losing our hospital and many health services is a serious blow to our community, but we have worked hard to find a solution, and it is happening. Our goal was to find a good second provider, and we have done that. Mercy One has been an excellent partner and promises to deliver first-class health services.

Our goal was to buy the Herberger’s building, and that is accomplished. Another goal was to raise $3.2 million to complete the buildout of 16,500 square feet for the clinic, and we are nearly there. So far, we have $2.7 million pledged or contributed, but we still need another $500,000 to complete the project. Many have reached deep to contribute, and we sincerely thank you for that.

If you haven’t pledged or made your contribution, please consider doing so before the first of the year. Albert Lea is a great place to live and raise a family. We all want to see a great future with outstanding health services. Besides, competition brings out the best in all of us.
