The Albert Lea wrestling team had a good showing at the Maple Grove Crimson Invite Saturday, placing six athletes.

The Tigers had five wrestlers compete in their respective championship matches and three of them came out on top. Of the 16 teams at the tournament, the Tigers came in third overall.

Freshman Cole Glazier had perhaps the best tournament showing, being crowned the champion at 145 pounds and being named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament. Glazier went 4-0 on the day with two pinfalls, a technical fall and a major decision.

Junior Caleb Talamantes also won his weight class at 160 pounds. He went 4-0 with three falls and a 7-3 decision in the finals.

The Tigers had two wrestlers at 152 pounds in freshman Derrick McMillian and sophomore Henry Eggum. McMillian went 4-0, while Eggum finished 3-1 as the duo met in the championship match. Eggum earned three pinfalls heading into the finals and McMillian had two pinfalls and a 18-13 decision. McMillian came out on top of the finals match via a third-period fall.

Freshman 106-pounder Aivin Wasmoen also came in second place, going 3-1 in the tournament. Leading to the championship match, Wasmoen had picked up two pinfalls and a 10-1 major decision. He lost the first-place match via pinfall in the first minute of the second period.

The final place winner for Albert Lea was sophomore Cameron Davis at 138 pounds. Davis went 3-1 on the day with a pinfall, technical fall and major decision. However, he lost his quarterfinal matchup via a 10-6 decision.

Also wrestling for the Tigers was Bradley Pestegard (1-2, 120 pounds), Joey Flores (1-2, 126 pounds), Tucker Ericksmoen (1-2, 132 pounds), Kadin Indrelie (1-2, 160 pounds) and Tyler Barney (1-2, 170 pounds).

The Tigers will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Austin to take on the Packers in a Big Nine Conference dual.
