The graveside service for Gary Barnick will be at 11 a.m. Friday at East Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery, rural Albert Lea. The Rev. Matt Briggs will officiate. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Gary L. Barnick, 59, of Owatonna, formerly of Albert Lea, passed away  Dec. 21, 2019.

Gary was born on April 29, 1960, in Albert Lea to Richard and Carmen (Hoium) Barnick. He graduated from Albert Lea High School. He attended MaCalester College for one year.

Gary spent most of his life helping homeless people by opening up his home to them. 

He is survived by his sister, Julie (Mark) Ackland; niece Rachel Ackland; nephew Richard (Brittney) Ackland; four great-nieces and nephews: Sienna, Makena, Jessa and Paxsten; other relatives and friends. 

Gary is preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to East Freeborn Lutheran Church.
