‘Tis the season for ice skating

Whether you prefer to skate in the elements or under a roof, there are plenty of opportunities to get some ice time over the weekend in Albert Lea. Public skate times are scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, 3 to 4:15 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at City Arena. The cost is $4 per skater with an additional $1 for skate rental during weekend hours.

The four outdoor ice rinks are always open for free public skating, but warming house hours are limited. All four warming houses (Academy, Hawthorne, Hayek and Lakeview) will be open from 1 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Hayek Park warming house is also open, as usual, from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday. The houses are equipped with friendly attendants and games, so the fun can continue while you warm up.
