4 Tigers nab first-place finishes at PEM tourney

Eight members of the Albert Lea wrestling team traveled to the Plainview-Elgin-Millville tournament Saturday morning and four of them came back with first-place medals.
Freshman Aivin Wasmoen finished first in the lightest weight class, 106 pounds.
Wasmoen won three matches en route to his tournament win; a 19-3 technical fall in the quarterfinals, a 35-second fall in the semifinals and an 11-2 major decision in the championship.
Sophomore Cameron Davis was the next champion at 132 pounds. The No. 6-ranked wrestler also went 3-0 on the day with a 20-5 technical fall in the quarters, a 16-5 major decision in the semis and a 3:48 fall in the finals.
Freshman and No. 3-ranked wrestler at 145 pounds Cole Glazier came in first, going 3-0 at the tournament. Glazier won with a second-period fall in both the quarters and finals and a 17-2 technical fall in the semifinals.
The final first-place finisher for the Tigers was junior Caleb Talamantes, who went 3-0 on the day with falls in the quarters and semis and a 6-1 decision in the championship.
Also wrestling for the Tigers was 120-pounder Bradley Prestegard, coming in seventh place, going 2-2 on the day with a 4-0 decision win and an injury default win.
Junior Tucker Ericksmoen came in sixth place at 126 pounds, going 3-2 on the day with three pinfall wins.
Freshman Luke Moller came in sixth place at 152 pounds with a pinfall win and a 6-2 decision.
Junior Tyler Barney wrestled at 170 pounds, coming in eighth place.
The Tigers will be back in action Friday with a dual meet on the road against Rochester Mayo.
