Why did Tribune disable comments?

I find it interesting that you disabled the comment section about the dog abuse case. You have left comments open on much more controversial topics before.

Hey, if the guy beats his dog, people have the right to let him know how they feel.

Editor’s note: Thank you for asking. Your letter illustrates the problem. The guy allegedly beat his dog. He wasn’t convicted. He was charged. Too many comment makers couldn’t tell the difference.
