The Gopher Conference recently released its All-Conference teams for wrestling as well as boys’ and girls’ basketball. A combined 16 athletes from NRHEG and United South Central were honored with rewards in their respective sports. 

In boys’ basketball, United South Central senior AJ Kloos was the lone area player named to the first team All-Gopher Conference team. Rebels junior Riley Staloch was named to the second team. NRHEG senior Lonnie Wilson was also named to the second team and NRHEG sophomore Porter Peterson was awarded an honorable mention. United South Central senior Adam Stenzel and NRHEG junior Tory Christenson were both given sportsmanship awards.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown senior Grant McBroom was awarded Conference Player of the Year. 

United South Central finished the year with a 5-9 finish in the conference, while NRHEG finished with a 2-12 record.  

In girls’ basketball action, NRHEG sophomore Sophie Stork was awarded an All-Conference first team spot and fellow Panther Sidney Schultz, a freshman, came in on the second team. NRHEG senior Jayna Domeier and United South Central senior Taige Suhr were awarded sportsmanship honors. 

Conference Player of the Year went to Medford senior Emma Kniefel. 

The Panthers finished with a 7-7 record in the Gopher Conference and the Rebels finished with a 1-13 record. 

Six area athletes were named to All-Conference teams in wrestling. United South Central senior Jacob Billings and junior Micah Hamson and NRHEG sophomore Nikolas Petsinger were awarded All-Conference honors. Hamson was also named a recipient of the sportsmanship award. United South Central junior Bryce Sonnek and sophomore Ethan Elvebak were both named honorable mentions. NRHEG senior Argo Gushwa received a sportsmanship award. 

Westfield senior Colton Kreil was named Conference Wrestler of the Year. 

The Panthers wrapped up their season with a 3-2 in-conference record, while the Rebels finished 1-4.
