Steele County reported eight new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, while all other area counties remained steady, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Steele County’s totals increased from 65 to 73 cases.

Freeborn County has had 46 cases; Faribault County, 10; Mower County, 45; and Waseca County, 16.

According to the Freeborn County Public Health Department, of the county’s 46 confirmed cases, 27 were out of isolation as of Tuesday. Five had been hospitalized at some point in their recovery.

Statewide, total positive cases increased to 12,494 cases, an increase in 695 cases. Of the total cases, 8,223 are no longer in isolation, and 614 people have died, an increase in 23 from the previous day. Of the total deaths, 501 resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities.

Fourteen of the new deaths were in Hennepin County in residents ranging from 50 to 99.

The Minnesota Department of Health stated 496 people are hospitalized as of today, including 199 in intensive care.

The median age of hospitalized cases is 61, though ages have ranged from an infant less than 1 month old to a person 102 years of age. The median age of the people who have died is 83, though ages have ranged from 30 to 109. The median age for all cases is 44.

The highest number of overall cases have been reported in Hennepin County, with 4,033 cases and 412 deaths. Counties with the next highest numbers are Stearns County with 1,512 cases and Nobles County with 1,291.

Ramsey County has had 1,052 cases, and Anoka County has had 613 cases. Olmsted County has had 378 cases, and Rice County has had 134.

The department stated 120,834 tests have been completed, including 15,229 through the Minnesota Department of Health’s public health lab and 105,605 through external laboratories.
