A resident at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea has tested positive for COVID-19, the nursing home’s administrator confirmed Friday.
Katie Davis said staff have notified the families of residents and are taking extra precautions to monitor the health of all residents and staff members.
Mass testing of residents is scheduled to take place Monday.
“The health, safety and well-being of our residents, staff and the community we serve remains our top priority,” Davis said.
The facility is working closely with the Minnesota Department of Health and values its guidance during the pandemic, she said.
Davis said she was not able to comment about the resident’s condition per privacy rules.
The Freeborn County Public Health Department said the county saw six new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the county’s total to 108 cases.
The new cases included one person under 10, three people in their 30s, one person in their 50s and one person in their 70s, the county department stated.
Ten of the county’s total cases have been hospitalized because of the virus at some point during their illness, and four currently remain hospitalized.
The county public health department stated 74 of the county’s cases are out of isolation and recovering from their illness.
