As part of Memorial Day, there are several events set for Monday to honor soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who gave their lives for their country.
• Lakewood Cemetery, 7 a.m.
• St. Theodore’s Cemetery, 7:30 a.m.
• Hillcrest Cemetery, 8 a.m.
• Freeborn County Veterans Memorial, 8:30 a.m.
• Fountain Lake Park, 9 a.m.
A parade begins to line up on St. Mary’s Avenue at 9:30 a.m. At 10 a.m., the parade will head down Fountain Street, then Broadway Avenue, then Clark Street all the way to Graceland Cemetery, where a memorial service will take place. In case of rain, the service will be at the auditorium of Albert Lea High School.
The Yellow Ribbon Foundation also plans to hold a picnic for the friends and family of Delta Company — the Albert Lea unit of the Minnesota National Guard — at the Moose Lodge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The public is welcome.
